Biography of Ravichandan Ashwin

 



Ravichandran Ashwin, generally known as R. Ashwin, is one of the most promising,intelligent cricketer India has ever produced. Through his magnificent skills of spin bowling and patient batting made him earn the title of one of the finest all rounder.

He was born on September 17, 1986, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Initially he was interested in batting and wanted to be a batsman but subsequently he discovered himself as a quality spinner with a lot of variations.

Ashwin is praised for his clever off-spin and extraordinary cricketing intellect. He had tremendous ability to outthink batters by combining classic off-breaks with carrom balls, leg-spinners, and odd seam-up deliveries.

With 537 International wickets, he is one of the finest spinner in the history of Indian as well as world cricket. His sharp bowling always significantly assisted India to dominate in Test cricket, especially at home with his fast turn and variation as well as overseas condition with his carrom balls and off cutter. 

Ashwin's batting, which is sometimes underappreciated, is another valuable attribute. With multiple promising Test centuries, he has set up himself as a consistent lower-order batsman. He had excellent efforts to form a partnership with top order batsmen as well as lower order bowlers. 

Indians will never forget his last ball hit for four to help India win against Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2024.

He also performed well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with teams like Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, and Rajasthan Royals.

His extra ordinary performance in cricket earned him various titles, including the prestigious ICC Cricketer of the Year title. 

During Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 On 18 December 2024, he announced retirement from all formats of international cricket.
